Lauren shared with us some wonderful stories of her
time spent in Alaska as a Rotary exchange student in 1996.
For the first 8 months Lauren lived in a small
remote country town with population 500 people. Her first host family took her on many road trips and adventures as
did her second host family who she stayed with for the final 4 months of her exchange. Lauren still keeps in touch
with both of her host families to this day.
Lol’s diet contained a lot of protein which was mainly moose and reindeer (sorry Rudolph).
She told us that although she was homesick, her time away was a wonderful experience and it really did open her eyes up to the world.
Lauren now lives in Wahgunyah with her tech savvy husband Bradford Connell and together they have three beautiful children -Cooper, Ryder & Harper. Lauren is now ready to impart her exchange knowledge to her son Cooper, who hopes to also get the
opportunity to do a Rotary youth exchange in the not too distant future.
